Everyone in France must have health insurance to cover them in the event of medical care, hospitalization, death or repatriation, from their very first day in the country.
Whatever your situation, we strongly recommend that you arrive in France with insurance covering you for the first few months of your stay, while you take the necessary steps.Â
Under the French social security system, anyone registered as a student or employee in France is entitled to partial coverage (around 70%) of healthcare costs under the Sécurité Sociale system.
This coverage is not automatic, however, and it is necessary to apply for affiliation and obtain a social security number.
This is done through the Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie - CPAM.
Health coverage procedures vary according to your status and nationality.
Consult the procedure below, depending on your profile, and if in doubt, don't hesitate to contact us: euraxess@univ-reims.fr
