CHILDCARE

If your child is not yet of school-age and you require childcare while you are at work, there are various childcare options that can meet your needs depending on the age of your child.

Nurseries, micro-nurseries, drop-in day care or multi day care centres

These childcare facilities can look after children from 2 months to 3 years old or over depending on the institution.

In childcare facilities approved by the President of the Conseil Départemental, children are looked after qualified childcare professionals.

Some facilities are public and fees are set by the Caisse d’Allocation Familiale (CAF) depending on your income and the members of your household. Other facilities are privately run and free to set their own fees.

To find out more

To register and for further information, contact your local town hall or contact the nearby facility that you have chosen directly.

In Reims, a single office called « La Maison de la Famille» centralises all childcare requests and helps parents find suitable childcare.

Childminders

Approved by the President of the Conseil Départemental, childminders (“assistantes maternelles”) look after children in their homes.

On average, they look after 4 children at the same time.

They are employed by the parents of the children they look after and the hourly rate is set by an agreement between the childminder and the parents.

Depending on their income and household members, parents can be eligible for financial assistance from the Caisse d’Allocation Familiale.

The list of approved childminders is available in your local town hall and on the website mon-enfant.fr
