RESEARCH AT THE AEBB CLUSTER

The challenges of the bioeconomy require a transdisciplinary focus.

The AEBB cluster promotes this approach, in which different areas can be combined into comprehensive, integrated research initiatives. Major French research organisations such as the CNRS, INERIS and INRAE have also traditionally been involved through Joint Research Units (UMRs).

Logo FARE

UMR INRAE 614 FARE: Fractionation of AgroResources and Environment

The INRA Joint Research Unit, FARE, focuses on the mechanisms of deconstruction of lignocellulosic plant resources in natural environments for agriculture and the environment, and on (bio)technological processes for green and sustainable chemistry.

In the value chain of agricultural and forestry resources, FARE's application and innovation objectives concern:

→ Upstream: maintenance of soil fertility, carbon storage and greenhouse gas emission controls.
→ Downstream: production of agriculturally sourced molecules, fibres and materials.

FARE’s activity contributes to the development of the circular and sustainable economy in France and Europe.

Logo GEGENAA

EA 3795 GEGENAA: Study Group on Geomaterials and Natural, Human-made and Archaeological Environments

GEGENAA covers a wide field of research: geology, geomorphology, soil sciences, geochemistry, archaeometry, geomaterials, remote sensing, GIS, sustainable development, natural and environmental hazards.

GEGENAA is a highly crossdisciplinary group encompassing the scientific fields that concern the impacts of humans and society on the constituents of their environments: water, soil, land surface and geomaterials.

Logo ICMR

UMR CNRS 7312 ICMR: Reims Institute of Molecular Chemistry

The Reims Institute of Molecular Chemistry is a joint research unit associated with the CNRS since its inception in 2008, and is attached to the Institute of Chemistry (INC).

Its staff undertake fundamental research in conjunction with the plant chemistry, healthcare, materials and nanosciences sectors concerning the various aspects of the Institute’s core activity, namely, molecular chemistry.

The unit's project is structured around innovative research concerning:

- Chemical reactivity
- Structural characterisation
- Development of improved methods combining aspects of structure-function relationships

For more information: go to the ICMR website

Logo RIBP

USC INRAE 1488 RIBP: Induced Resistance and Bioprotection of Plants

The RIBP research unit currently brings together some fifty people working on plant immunity.

Based on a sound understanding of the immunity of plants, the unit’s activities are divided into three complementary areas:

→ Immunity and perception of elicitors
→ Immunity and beneficial microorganisms
→ Immunity and climate change

The projects undertaken focus on both fundamental research and field applications, in conjunction with industrial partners and technical institutes, both in France and abroad.

The RIBP research unit is part of the SFR Condorcet (Federated Research Structure) (FR CNRS 3417), in particular area 1 (sustainable production and environment).

Logo SEBIO

UMR-I 02 SEBIO: Environmental Stress and Biomonitoring of Aquatic Environments

The SEBIO research unit is a joint research unit associated with INERIS.

In response to the presence of chemical and biological pollutants related to human activities in natural environments, the research currently being carried out at the laboratory aims to:

â–º Achieve a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms underlying their toxic action on animal organisms.
â–º Define early, predictive responses to toxic hazards, with potential applications for the biomonitoring of aquatic environments.

The activities of the unit are organised around three areas:

→ Reproduction and endocrinology
→ Immunity and defence capacities
→ Energy and metabolism
