Borrowing at the library
There is no limit to the number of documents that can be borrowed, except for special collections. Games and small equipment are subject to specific loan conditions, which can be consulted on the Borrow page.
For students, secondary school pupils and external readers, 3 weeks with 2 renewals of 3 weeks possible (note that the 3-week renewal is not added to the initial loan period but takes effect on the date the extension is made) unless the document is reserved by another reader.
For lecturers, doctoral students and URCA staff, 15 weeks without renewal. Information on the Borrow page.
You can consult the list of documents borrowed and the return date from the library catalogue, under ‘My account’. For URCA students and staff, the identifiers are those of the virtual office; for authorised readers, the identifiers were sent to you on the day of your registration.
You'll have to go to your library's reception desk with your student card (or, if you don't have one, a piece of ID). The service is free and reserved for students registered at the URCA (details on the Borrow page).
Any late return of borrowed documents will result in a loan suspension equivalent to the number of days the documents were overdue. A reminder will be sent to you by email or text message 3 days before the deadline for returning documents. To avoid delays, you can extend your loans.
Extensions of loans are only possible for students and external readers. It must be done no later than the day before you were due to return the documents. Extensions are not possible if the document is reserved by another reader or if it is already overdue. It is not possible to renew certain collections: see the loan conditions on the Borrow page.
You can extend your loans online, from the library catalogue, in the ‘My account’ section. For URCA students, the identifiers are those of the virtual office; for authorised readers, the identifiers were sent to you on the day of your registration. You can also renew documents in person at your library's reception desk or by email or telephone (contacts on your library's page).
You can reserve documents that are available or have already been borrowed, whether they come from your library or another URCA library. You can do this either directly from the document record in the library catalogue, or by contacting your library's reception desk. Reservations are limited to 10 requests at a time.
You will be notified by email when the documents arrive, and they will be made available to you at your library's reception desk for 5 working days. After this period, the documents will be returned to the shelves. If the document you are interested in is not available at URCA, you can request it on interlibrary loan or recommend a purchase.
You must report this to the library reception desk. You will be asked to contribute to the cost of replacing the document, calculated as follows: selling price of the document + a fixed charge of 8 euros for equipment and processing costs. You cannot buy the document yourself.
Yes, you can return borrowed documents, laptops, small items or games to any library in the network, regardless of which library you borrowed them from.
If you are temporarily unable to use the library, you can request that a set of books you wish to borrow be prepared, by reserving documents in the available status: librarians will fetch them from the shelves for you and a trusted person with a power of attorney can come and collect the documents in your place. The loan period can be extended depending on your situation and on presentation of proof.
You can allow someone to borrow documents to you reader account by contacting the library by email from your URCA mailbox, giving the surname, first name and date of birth of the person you wish to appoint as your proxy. The person to whom you have given power of attorney will be able to borrow in all URCA libraries on presentation of an identity document in his or her name. Find out more about the management of your personal data.
The loan period can be extended by sending a signed certificate from your supervisor and with the agreement of the head of the library.
The loan period can be extended depending on your situation, by sending an email to the library to which you are attached (contacts on your library's page). You can find all the information on disabled access on the dedicated page.
