Exams and University diplomas

Continuous assessments and final exams are organised each semester. University diplomas are delivered as follows :

  • DUEF A1 (Diplôme Universitaire d’Études Françaises level A1)
  • DUEF A2 (Diplôme Universitaire d’Études Françaises level A2)
  • DUEF B1 (Diplôme Universitaire d’Études Françaises level B1)*
  • DUEF B2 (Diplôme Universitaire d’Études Françaises level B2)
  • DUEF C1 (Diplôme Universitaire d’Études Françaises level C1)

* At the CIEF, the DUEF B1 is divided into two levels and two diplomas: the DUEF B1.1, which confers a start of level B1 and the DUEF B1.2 which confers the level B1.

DUEF A1

*Diploma on 200 points

*Duration of training: one semester of approximately 200 hours.

*Exit level: level A1 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

DUEF A2


*Diploma on 200 points

*Duration of training: one semester of approximately 200 hours.

*Entry level: A1 level

*Exit level: A2 level

DUEF B1


*Diploma on 300 points

*Duration of training: one semester of approximately 200 hours.

*Entry level: A2 level

*Exit level: B1 level

The DUEF B1 exams also include a test for the specialty French course chosen by the student (written or oral).

*Diploma on 300 points

The DUEF B2 exams also include a test for the specialty French courses chosen by the student (written or oral).

DUEF C1


*Diploma on 300 points

*Duration of training: one semester of approximately 200 hours.

*Entry level: B2 level*

*Exit level: C1 level

The DUEF C1 exams also include a test for the specialty French course chosen by the student (written or oral), a test for the language reflection course and a test for the history and civilization course.

These diplomas are harmonised with those of the 40 other French University Centres and members of the Campus-FLE ADCUEFE (Association of Directors of University Centres for the Teaching of French to Foreigners).


DELF and DALF :

A certain amount of classroom time is dedicated to the preparation of the national diplomas DELF and DALF in each level. Two exam sessions are organised once a year usually in January and May at the CIEF.
