The CVEC

What is it?

The CVEC, or Contribution de Vie Étudiante et de Campus (Student and Campus life contribution) is a contribution fee decided by the French government. It is “designed to promote social, health, cultural and sports support and assistance for students and to reinforce health prevention and education actions aimed at students" (Article L. 841-5 of the French Education Code).

It enables to create new services within the different institutions on campus, such as:

  • Better access to treatment on campus and renewal of the prevention policy
  • Promote social support
  • Develop sport on campus
  • Promote art and culture in higher education institutions
  • Improve student support.

Who must pay the CVEC?

All students who are enrolled on a continuing education course in a higher education institution in France must pay the CVEC (some students are not obliged to pay the CVEC contribution, see the CVEC website).

It is payable once per academic year. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the fee is €103.

The CVEC may be paid online with a debit or credit card. CIEF students can ask their student tutors for help with payment. An office is set up at the beginning of each semester to facilitate this process.

After having paid the CVEC, you must download the receipt for payment and provide it to the CIEF.
