Visa / Residence permit

Obtaining a visa

You are not a national of one of the 30 countries of the European Economic Area (EEA)?

To enter and stay more than 3 months in France, a foreign student must hold a long stay visa (type D). This visa is granted by the French consulate. You must apply for it at the French Consulate or Embassy in your home country, at least three months before departure.

In order to obtain a visa, you must provide the following documents:

- A proof of admission or pre-registration for the URCA

- A statement of financial resources (the minimum amount is determined by each French Embassy)
- A valid passport and a proof of residence/address.

You will find all the information you need about visas and residence permits on the Campus France website:

Renewal of visas

Do you need to renew your visa? Since September 2020, a teleservice has been set up for international students holding a long-stay visa or a long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit (VLS-TS) who wish to renew it to continue their studies.

IMPORTANT: the request for a visa renewal is to be made 2 months before the expiry date of your current visa.
