Research topics

LRN scientific activity is organised following 3 main topics with strong reciprocal interactions :

DEVELOPMENT OF NANOMATERIALS AND APPLICATIONS

This group designs and develops organic components and semiconductor nano-objects using low-cost methods such as electroplating, or chemical processes. The synthesized objects are characterized in relation to the other themes and their applications. Experimental results can be complemented by modelling their electrical properties.

NANOCHARACTERIZATIONS AND METHODOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS

This theme focuses on developing know-how and new techniques for the local characterization of nanomaterials or biological objects. By using our own instrumental tools park and the state-of-the-art, this group focuses on the development of new experimental processing to improve the potentialities of the devices and to correlate the structural, chemical, optical, mechanical and electronic properties of the objects studied.

NANOBIOTECHNOLOGIES

Here, our staff is focused on the field of Health, at the interface between "nano" and "bio", on the recognition of endogenous biomolecules by synthetic nano-sensors. Diagnostic platforms using semiconductor fluorescent nanocrystals Quantum Dots or polymeric beads doped with nanocrystals are being developed. The new sensor molecules coupled with individual nanocrystals or on the surface of doped beads are part of the team's innovative developments allowing a very significant increase in terms of sensitivity and specificity for the detection and diagnosis of tumoral, inflammatory and autoimmune pathologies.
