OVERVIEW OF THE AFERE CHAIR

URCA’s AFERE chair, AFERE, Agroressources FERmentation Enzymes focuses its research and innovation activities on the conversion of plant matter into useful molecules for applications in the cosmetics, chemistry, energy and food/feed sectors.

The AFERE chair’s ten or so researchers are developing white biotechnology processes using microorganisms and enzymes isolated in nature to extract and process the constituents of plants, especially agricultural by-products (straw, bran, stalks, etc), into molecules with high added value (anti-ageing molecules, antioxidants, detergents, secondary metabolites, etc).

The AFERE chair is attached to the FARE laboratory and is a member of the CEBB.
