The Centre International d'Etudes Françaises

Put a sparkle in your studies !

The Centre International d’Études Françaises (CIEF) is part of the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA), one of the oldest universities in Europe. Our main objective is to help non-French-speaking students acquire linguistic, methodological and cultural skills that they will need to enrol learning programmes that are offered by the other bodies (faculties, institutes, schools) of the University.

The CIEF is a member of CAMPUS-FLE ADCUEFE, which includes about 40 French universities. These offer programs in French as a second language for foreign students and teachers that are elaborated to give learners of all levels the opportunity to learn French.

As part of a university, the CIEF offers a “high-level cultural environment, as well as various teaching methods”. Foreign students are in contact with local students on campus on a day-to-day basis.

Each year, the CIEF welcomes more than 300 students of all nationalities, all levels and from all over the world. We offer a wide range of learning programs for all levels, from beginners to advanced, which enable our students to progress at their own pace. The CIEF is also destined to offer personalised help to students and researchers, who are enrolled in exchange programs (ERAMUS, PCRDT, free-mover students).

Our teachers are dynamic and receptive, they can welcome students that are willing to do their Master internship (both first and second year). As a part of the "Maison des Langues" which is located on the university campus, the CIEF provides students with a high-performance "Centre de Ressources en Langues". Not only does this enable students to work independently, but it also gives them the opportunity to mix with French students and study other languages, should they want to.
